"Bambino Scianna" is a name inscribed on a tombstone that covers the skeletal remains of a human child. "Bambino" is the masculine translation of "baby" in Italian.
While searching for Damien's biological mother in a Cerveteri graveyard, Robert Thorn and Keith Jennings discover two graves, one containing the child's remains and another with the tombstone inscription "Maria Scianna." Believing it to be Damien's mother they open it and are shocked to find only the decaying carcass of a four-legged animal.
Robert believes that if the child's grave also contains an animal, his true son may still be alive somewhere. He and Jennings hastily uncover the child's grave and are horrified to see the remains of a human child, its skull caved-in. Robert is furious but his reaction is cut short as the two men are attacked by a pack of Rottweilers.
