Robert and Richard Thorn both attended Davidson Military Academy, and Robert was quarterback on the academy's rugby team.
Robert and Richard's sons, Mark and Damien Thorn, were enrolled in Davidson Academy when they were twelve. Mark was given a military funeral after he was killed by Damien, and Damien was awarded the Officer's Saber at the end of the academy year.
