Holly is a character who appears in The Omen (1976). As played by Holly Palance, she is the young English nanny who governs Damien Thorn until he turns five years old — at which time she hangs herself at his outdoor birthday party.

The Omen (1976)[]

Holly first appears just after Robert and Kathy move to England with Damien as a toddler.

During an outdoor celebration for his fifth birthday she holds him while singing "Happy Birthday" and helps him blow out the candles on his cake.

Later, Kathy abruptly takes Damien from her care. Holly seems puzzled by this and photographer, Keith Jennings discreetly snaps some photos before she recovers and moves on.

When Holly spots a Rottweiler standing by a tree just beyond the party grounds she stares at it, trance-like, her eyes growing wide.

Soon, while Damien rides a carousel, Holly is heard calling to him, telling him to look at her and that she loves him. Damien hears her and when Kathy picks him up he points to Holly who is standing on the roof of the Thorn mansion, with a noose around her neck.

"Look at me, Damien!" she calls with a smile, "It's all for you!"

With that, she steps off the roof and hangs herself in front of the partygoers, crashing into a glass window below.

Rumors of drug use and a suicide note spread in the press but Robert denies them.

Later, Jennings shows Thorn a photo of Holly at the party and points to a shadow-like blemish that comes down from above her and curves around her neck.
